Digipack
The first digipack I will look at belongs to singer Rihanna. Her front cover is an extreme close up image of her face. It has her name at the top and the album name which is 'Loud' across the bottom, both in capital letters. This draws the consumers attention as it stands out and you automatically know who's album it is, just by the image. Also the fact it has her name at the top, when it is presented in shops, you will still be able to see it. The image is highly saturated and emphasises her flawless face and features. The colour makes her hair and lips pop as they are a bright, bold red colour. This flows through her whole CD. The writing is not only in capitals but is in a white/silver colour therefore stands out again the bright colours of her image.
The inside of her album opens up and one image stretches across the three sections of the entire album. The colour scheme of red continues as she lays in a bush of red roses. I also would like to this in my own album as it helps tell a story and flows well. It is also a cool idea instead of having two images.
Her CD has a rose pictures on it which can been seen on the inside of her album. It is in a light pink and shows that she is very girly. Her whole albums reads very girly as she is caked in make-up, bright red lips, flowy hair and flowers. Even her colour scheme of red and pink adds to this.
Her back cover again is highly saturated. She is positioned on then right hand side posing with her back arched looking to camera. She is wearing a simple bra and shorts which is quite a difference to the girl prom looking dress which she is wearing on the inside of the CD. It comes across more masculine and so does the more urban background which almost looks like a stage with dull brown curtains against the flowers she has previously been laying it. This shows the contrast of hard and soft which could represent the songs she has on her album. The songs are written on the left alongside the names of her produces. The writing remains in the white/silver colour and same font.
Advert
This is one the many adverts for Rihanna's album 'Loud'. I like the fact that is follows the theme of roses and the colour scheme which her album contains. It also shows an image of the album cover and a song it features. Her red hair is once again the vocal point as well as the rose. It is a close up of her and shows her in a furry coat and huge sunglasses. Her album name is just underneath her face and her name is at the top just like on her album. It is in capitals and also the same font. This makes her brand very recognisable as everything has the same idea which makes it very fluent. I will also make sure in my own CD and Advert that the colour scheme and font does not change.
there is some thoughtful analysis here of image, themes and elements you can use and subvert in your own print products. You are fairly brief on font and lettering, and you could be clearer on which elements are conventional / typical of a CD package and / or advert
