These photos were taken in the studio and are for our advert and album artwork. Due to the lighting being too bright we will be taking some more photographs probably again in a studio or possibly on location.

Today's Lesson
In today's lesson we thought about what we wanted out text and lettering to look like. We used illustrator to come up with some different ideas and play around with the colours. We ended up coming to a group decision and picking our favourite which we will use throughout our project.
Today's Lesson
Today we took photos in the studio for the CD and advert. We used a DSLR camera to take the photos and studio lights. We all took turns taking pictures and we played around with the lighting to create different effects.
CD Cover Presentation
My group and I presented our work to the class and go some feedback. This was to gain ideas on what is good and bad about the ideas we have for the CD.

Alicia Keys 'The Element Of Freedom' Digipack & Advert
Digipack
The front cover shows Alicia wearing a very feathered top and minimal make-up. She is looking down and is also centered to the left of the CD, leaving space on the right for her name and album title. For my front cover i will also like to center my star on either the left or right hand side leaving space for the writing to go either side. Her colour scheme is clearly blue tones giving the front cover a very calming effect. Apart from her quite bold outfit the front cover is quite minimal which is good, otherwise it may look too busy.
To many people, birds represent freedom and with the title of her album being, 'The element of freedom' it is quite fitting. Also her wearing feathers on the front cover is another example of everything being well thought out and flowing together.
The back cover has the bar-code at the top right which is different to the other CD's I spoke about. Her track list is also center of the back CD, starting from the top. She may have doing this so nothing overlaps the artwork she has that the bottom of the back CD case. She also have the logos for all companies involved in this album alongside copyright infringement.
The colour-scheme has flowed throughout with blue also appearing on the back cover with darker tones such as purple and black. It almost looks like a horizon with mountains in the back which could also be another representation of freedom.
Advert
The advert includes information on where you can buy the CD and the link. It also incorporates the iTunes logo. At the very top the album name is in capitals drawing attention. The image of the album cover is dead center of the advert, therefore people know what it looks like and what to look for. It makes the album recognisable as if people see it in stores they would immediately know that it is the new album she had been advertising.
The colours or purple tones are the background. These tones could also be seen on the actual album along with some other blue tones.
All information is in capital letters apart from the little disclaimer which is in white at the bottom, also in a smaller font.
Beyonce '4' CD & 'I am.. Sasha Fierce' Advert
Beyoncé '4' Digipack
This Beyoncé cover for her album '4' shows her sticking a very strong pose. Her name is at the sky line of the CD which is positioned behind her photo. She looks off into the distance with a furry scarf covering her chest and what seems to be her underwear. It seems to me that this is a very sexy and provocative image which could represent the type of songs she has on her album. However she seems very powerful which embodies her believing in independence. Her album title is on the bottom right in bold which makes it very clear to the audience and consumers. Her make up and styling is quite bold yet simplistic with her pose and centre positioning being the main vocal point. It is a mid shot from her hips to head, taking up the centre colum of the CD. There is very little text on her front cover, making it very simple.
The inside of her album shows her posing with the city as her background, almost as if she rules her kingdom as to the media she is often known as 'Queen B'. She is wearing a black bodysuit showing off her stunning legs. In this album and the front cover she is seen showing quite a bit of skin but shows that she embraces her body and proud of her curves which we all know she is. It image is in colour as she poses in the centre of the photo letting her body and angles take up most of the image. It is a long shot of her and uses natural lighting as you can see the sun hitting the right side of her body. It was certainly taken on location and she again looks very powerful and confident.
The CD it self is red bit the letter 'B' written on it. The 'B' stands for her name and is a nickname given to her by the media and her fans and what she often calls herself. It is a very simple design but the font of the 'B' is quote fancy with plenty of swirls and flicks which shows that she is still very feminine.
The back of her album again shows her name in capitals as the skyline and an image of her looking over the city in the same location and clothes as the image on the inside of her album. Her writing is always in black and uses the same lettering throughout. Her song titles are written on the right and the barcode and producers at the bottom right. Her pose again shows of her curves and is very strong. She is known for her sexy songs and videos and these images reinforce this. Also she barely uses any effects and allows her location to speak for itself.
Advert
This advert for her album 'I am.. Sasha Fierce' shows the two images she uses for the cover and back cover for her album. 3/4 of the advert is the photographs which are very different. One representing Beyoncé and the other her ultra ego 'Sasha Fierce'. Her poses are quite similar however in the first image she is wearing minimal makeup and no visible clothing and the right Is the exact opposite with heavy makeup and jewellery. The lettering stays the same and is in capitals. It makes it very clear when the release date is and what the album title is. It shows her features on the right and it all flows and compliments each other.
Rihanna 'LOUD' Digipack & Advert.
Digipack
The first digipack I will look at belongs to singer Rihanna. Her front cover is an extreme close up image of her face. It has her name at the top and the album name which is 'Loud' across the bottom, both in capital letters. This draws the consumers attention as it stands out and you automatically know who's album it is, just by the image. Also the fact it has her name at the top, when it is presented in shops, you will still be able to see it. The image is highly saturated and emphasises her flawless face and features. The colour makes her hair and lips pop as they are a bright, bold red colour. This flows through her whole CD. The writing is not only in capitals but is in a white/silver colour therefore stands out again the bright colours of her image.
The inside of her album opens up and one image stretches across the three sections of the entire album. The colour scheme of red continues as she lays in a bush of red roses. I also would like to this in my own album as it helps tell a story and flows well. It is also a cool idea instead of having two images.
Her CD has a rose pictures on it which can been seen on the inside of her album. It is in a light pink and shows that she is very girly. Her whole albums reads very girly as she is caked in make-up, bright red lips, flowy hair and flowers. Even her colour scheme of red and pink adds to this.
Her back cover again is highly saturated. She is positioned on then right hand side posing with her back arched looking to camera. She is wearing a simple bra and shorts which is quite a difference to the girl prom looking dress which she is wearing on the inside of the CD. It comes across more masculine and so does the more urban background which almost looks like a stage with dull brown curtains against the flowers she has previously been laying it. This shows the contrast of hard and soft which could represent the songs she has on her album. The songs are written on the left alongside the names of her produces. The writing remains in the white/silver colour and same font.
Advert
This is one the many adverts for Rihanna's album 'Loud'. I like the fact that is follows the theme of roses and the colour scheme which her album contains. It also shows an image of the album cover and a song it features. Her red hair is once again the vocal point as well as the rose. It is a close up of her and shows her in a furry coat and huge sunglasses. Her album name is just underneath her face and her name is at the top just like on her album. It is in capitals and also the same font. This makes her brand very recognisable as everything has the same idea which makes it very fluent. I will also make sure in my own CD and Advert that the colour scheme and font does not change.
